Jazztel p.l.c. (JAZZ.MC) is a leading facilities-based telecommunications operator providing broadband data solutions, Internet and voice services to businesses in Spain. Jazztel has an extensive long distance as well as local infrastructure utilizing both proprietary fiber assets as well as resold DSL services in all of major Spanish cities. Its customers include a mix of small, medium and large businesses located throughout the country. Spectrum was one of the lead investors in providing capital for growth to Jazztel in support of the build-out of its proprietary communications network and development of its products and services. The Jazztel network provided the first fully developed alternative in Spain to Telefonica's monopoly focused on the SME market. The equity capital provided by Spectrum and the other investors was complemented by several bond financings and subsequently a very successful IPO listing on the LSE and Madrid exchanges.
