Founded in 1975, Bug Music, Inc. is one of the world's leading independent music publishers. Headquartered in Los Angeles, with offices in Nashville, New York, London and Munich, Bug owns and/or manages approximately 250,000 copyrights. The company has built a strong reputation as the "songwriter's" publisher by supporting copyrights of songwriters and publishers and providing personalized administrative and creative services. Spectrum purchased a majority stake from Bug's two owners and put in place a new CEO at the time of the transaction to take over day-to-day responsibilities. Bug's owners retained a minority interest and serve alongside Spectrum on the Board of Directors. Spectrum subsequently provided additional equity to support the acquisition of Windswept Holdings LLC, one of the nation's leading independent music publishers.

CEO Biography

John Rudolph has been Chief Executive Officer of Bug Music, Inc since July 2006, following a long career in the music publishing industry and is a board member of the National Music Publishers Association. Mr. Rudolph founded and served as CEO of Music Analytics in 2001, the leading strategic advisor to music publishers and record companies, and also founded Sherpa Ears, LLC, a technology company involving social networks, in 1999. Prior to that, Mr. Rudolph was CFO of Windswept Pacific where he engineered the sale of Windswept to EMI for a reported $200 million in what was one of the largest music publishing transactions at the time. Mr. Rudolph began his career in corporate finance with IBM and also worked as a consultant at BDO in Atlanta. Mr. Rudolph received his Bachelor's degree with honors from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and passed the Tennessee Certified Public Accountants examination in 1992. He has been around music his entire life: growing up in Hendersonville, Tennessee, home of Johnny Cash, his father was a professional musician, and he worked in record stores for 6 years while a student. He is an avid snowboarder and mountain climber, having climbed the highest mountain on five different continents.
