Seisint, Inc. provided information products and processing services that allowed organizations to quickly and easily extract knowledge from extremely large databases. The company's proprietary data-linking algorithms allowed customers to cost effectively scan a data repository of billions of records in a fraction of a second, correlate and filter the information, and generate results highly useful for risk mitigation. Applications under the trade name Accurint spanned financial services (collections, payments), corporate HR (background screening, identity verification), and the public sector (law enforcement, legal). Spectrum purchased the stock of a non-strategic shareholder, helping to resolve a shareholder dispute and providing the management team with a minority investor better suited to guide the company through a period of rapid growth. As a result of the company's very rapid growth and unique business model, several industry players pursued an acquisition of Seisint, ultimately resulting in a sale to Lexis Nexis, a subsidiary of Reed Elsevier PLC. The Accurint product is now a key platform in the Lexis Nexis Risk & Information Analytics operating group.
