Ancestry.com Inc. is the largest online provider of family
history information and research tools. Subscriptions to the
company's content are sold to consumers through a network of online
properties, including Ancestry.com, Genealogy.com, MyFamily.com and
RootsWeb.com. Proprietary bodies of content distributed by the
company include the 1930 US Census, the Ellis Island immigration
passenger list, and the British phone directory listings since
1880. The company's network of sites serves provides more than 7
billion searchable records to more than 1.7 million paying
subscribers. Spectrum purchased a sizeable minority stake from
founders and multiple shareholders in a series of secondary share
purchase, and later partnered with management to acquire a majority
controlling stake in the company. Ancestry (NASDAQ: ACOM) completed
its IPO in November 2009.
CEO Biography:
Tim Sullivan has been President and Chief Executive Officer of
Ancestry.com Inc. since September 2005. Mr. Sullivan most recently
served as Chief Executive Officer for Match.com, the global leader
in online dating and an operating business of IAC/InterActiveCorp.,
from 2001 until September 2004. Under his leadership, Match.com
achieved recognition as the clear leader in the U.S. online dating
market, while expanding globally into 29 local language dating
markets. Prior to joining Match.com, Mr. Sullivan served as vice
president of e-commerce for Ticketmaster's predecessor,
Ticketmaster Online-Citysearch, Inc. Before joining Ticketmaster,
Mr. Sullivan spent seven years at The Walt Disney Company, where as
vice president and managing director for Buena Vista Home
Entertainment Asia Pacific, he was responsible for all Home Video
distribution of Walt Disney company products in the Asia Pacific
Region. Mr. Sullivan is a graduate of Harvard Business School and
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
