Apprise Media is a niche media and specialty publishing enterprise. The company currently operates two strategic platforms: Canon Communications LLC, the leading provider of events, publications, and online media to the medical device, packaging, plastics, and allied industries; and Apprise Enthusiast Media LLC, which serves a variety of attractive consumer niche markets through Beckett Media LP and the Action Pursuit Group. Spectrum partnered with Charles McCurdy, former co-founder and President of Primedia, to form this acquisition platform.

CEO Biography

Charles McCurdy founded Apprise Media in January 2004 and serves as the company's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. McCurdy has more than 25 years of experience in special interest media. Under the Apprise umbrella, he has led the acquisition and development of three platform companies, Canon Communications, Beckett Media LP and Action Pursuit Group LLC. Prior to forming Apprise, Mr. McCurdy served as Director and Interim Chief Executive Officer of PRIMEDIA Inc. from 2003 to 2004 and as its President from 1991 to 2003. Prior to launching PRIMEDIA, Mr. McCurdy was the top finance and development executive at Macmillan Inc., the educational and professional book publisher and business-to-business information services provider. He started his publishing career as an editor. McCurdy is a member of the Board of American Business Media and the Chair of its Marketing Committee. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City. Mr. McCurdy received an MBA from Columbia and his B.A. from Yale, Magna Cum Laude.
