Demand Media Names an Executive Vice President, Marketplaces

Demand Media, Inc. (NYSE: DMD), a diversified internet company comprised of several media and marketplace properties, today announced that Dion Camp Sanders has joined the company as Executive Vice President, Marketplaces. Sanders will lead Demand Media’s marketplace division, overseeing all operations for its brands, including Saatchi Art and Society6.

Sanders brings more than 16 years of experience as a senior executive in GM, strategy, and business development to his role at Demand Media. Most recently, he served as Vice President, Emerging Businesses within the DCPI Labs group at The Walt Disney Company, where he led an innovation team responsible for conceiving, incubating, and bringing new start-up businesses to market. Prior to Disney, Sanders was Founder and CEO of Pacific Edison, a renewable energy firm that developed solar projects for top entertainment and sports industry companies including 20th Century Fox, AEG and Volkswagen. He also served as Senior Vice President, New Media at Datalogix, which was subsequently acquired by Oracle, and he spent five years at Ticketmaster/IAC in various business development and strategy positions, where he first worked with Demand Media’s CEO, Sean Moriarty.
