San Francisco, Calif. - Today Jimdo, the global do-it-yourself website builder, releases its new Android app. With this release, Jimdo becomes the first truly cross-platform website builder, allowing users to create and manage websites seamlessly between all of their mobile, tablet, and desktop devices.
Jimdo for Android is the only Android website builder to provide this level of functionality. The app lets users sign up and create a free website from scratch, and then edit and rearrange content and site navigation all from a mobile device or tablet.
Users can choose a template and website name; add new photos, galleries, and text; add, delete, edit, and reorder pages; publish blog posts; and check website stats. Existing users will also enjoy the new flexibility: all of Jimdo’s 12 million websites can be edited right in the app.
“This release reinforces us as the leader in mobile web building apps,” says Matthias Henze, Jimdo co-founder. “Now you can start a website on your Android phone, edit it on your desktop at the office, and then rearrange it from your iPad during your commute home.”
Jimdo for Android follows the 2013 release of Jimdo’s iOS app, a “Best of 2013” App Store winner, and the recent overhaul of its desktop user interface. With the launch of Android, the Jimdo cross-platform family is complete, making the easiest web-editing experience fully fit for mobile.
“We want to match the speed of our users,” says Fridtjof Detzner, Jimdo co-founder. “People want access to their websites from wherever they are, whenever they want, regardless of the device. Our app offerings will continue to match that new reality. We’re excited to see what our users can do with this kind of flexibility.”
Jimdo’s Android app is available for free in the Google Play store.
