lynda.com Adds General Manager of Enterprise

San Francisco and Carpinteria, Calif. - Online learning company lynda.com announced today that enterprise software executive Erik Nierenberg has joined the company as General Manager of its Enterprise business unit. Nierenberg comes to lynda.com after an extensive tenure at Salesforce.com, the world’s #1 CRM company. Based in San Francisco and reporting to lynda.com president, Andrew Wait, Nierenberg will be responsible for all elements of the company’s growing Enterprise line of business, with a global focus on the corporate, government and education markets.

As organizations continue to increase their spending on corporate learning, estimated to account for over $70 billion in the U.S. alone, the need for robust, enterprise-wide learning solutions, such as those offered by lynda.com, is clear. As learning methods continue to evolve, the use of video has shown to be highly effective in reaching multiple teams, creating customized learning paths and providing a more engaging way to develop employees, and elevate the entire workforce.

lynda.com provides organizations of all sizes with complete access across phone, tablet, and desktop to more than 5,700 courses and 255,000 video tutorials, enabling them to promote the professional and leadership development of their employees. As a result, individuals across the organization and of any skill level can learn the latest technology, business and creative skills by interacting with video tutorials at their own pace, where and when it’s most convenient.

Following another strong year for growth, lynda.com plans to continue to invest and further grow its customer base — already comprised of half of the Fortune 50, 30 percent of the nation’s colleges and universities (including all of the Ivy League), numerous state government agencies and all branches of the U.S. military — both in the U.S. and internationally.

“Throughout his career, Erik has demonstrated the ability to guide growth, create and execute business strategy and drive success for innovative software companies,” said Andrew Wait, president of lynda.com. “His experience and leadership will play a crucial role as we work to teach more people more skills, and as lynda.com continues its rapid growth across segments, industries, and global markets.

“The ability to deliver and standardize on-demand learning and development for employees - regardless of their location - across an organization is a pressing need for today’s companies,” said Nierenberg. "I look forward to helping drive the growth of the lynda.com Enterprise business by showing how this unique learning resource can help any organization boost team performance, close skill gaps and facilitate a high-functioning workforce.”

Erik has worked across sales, marketing, business development, product management, mergers & acquisitions, investing, and corporate strategy during his career. During his tenure with Salesforce, Nierenberg most recently worked in product management with a focus on driving new user growth, was formerly the Vice President of Business Development and Strategy for Chatter when it was launched, and spent years growing and managing the inbound and outbound demand generation telesales teams in North America.

Earlier in his career, he was a venture capitalist, a management consultant, and spent time working at The Bridgespan Group--a non-profit headquartered in Boston.

In addition, Nierenberg is an advisor to numerous start-ups, including 6Sense, The Team Group, and Kelvin. He also sits of the Advisory Board of East Palo Alto Charter School & Phoenix Academy. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Pomona College.
