Los Angeles, CA (March 1, 2006) – Canon Communications LLC, an Apprise Media Company, today announced its acquisition of Octo Media Ltd, a London-based trade magazine publisher and event organizer. Integration of the company's properties will significantly expand Canon's portfolio of business-to-business media products serving the $230 billion worldwide medical device manufacturing industry.
"This acquisition makes Canon the dominant provider of media services to the high-growth medical device manufacturing field in North America, Europe, and China, through trade shows, publications, and digital products," said Canon Chairman and CEO Charles G. McCurdy. "It also demonstrates Apprise Media's ongoing support for Canon's successful program of expanding effective offerings for the sectors it serves and closely related sectors. We will continue to grow the company through selective, complementary acquisitions that build upon its strong existing portfolio of products and management capabilities."
Medical Device Technology magazine, the largest audited title in the field in Europe, focuses on the technical and applications-oriented aspects of medical manufacturing, including product design and engineering, production, regulatory compliance, marketing, and distribution. Launched in 1990, its readership is primarily product design, R&D, production, process engineering, and quality control decision makers throughout Western Europe, and it complements Canon's European Medical Device Manufacturer magazine.

MDT is the UK's only dedicated medical device trade show and complements Canon's MEDTEC shows in Germany and Ireland.
