Dr. James Peake Joins QTC as Chief Medical Director and Chief Operating Officer
Diamond Bar, CA (November 15, 2006) – QTC welcomed Dr. James Peake, former U.S. Army Surgeon General, to its leadership team today assuming the role of Chief Medical Director and Chief Operating Officer.
Dr. Peake brings to his new position a wealth of experience in uniform and the private sectors. A 1966 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Dr. Peake began his career as an infantry officer. He is a highly decorated Vietnam veteran having served as a platoon leader with the 101st Airborne Division. After returning from Vietnam he attended Cornell University Medical College and became board certified in general surgery and thoracic surgery.
After a very distinguished military and medical career, the President nominated Dr. Peake to serve as the 40th Surgeon General of the Army and Commander, United States Medical Command. He served in this position from 2000-2004.
Most recently, General Peake was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Project Hope, a non-profit international health foundation with offices and programs in more than 30 different countries on five continents.
Dr. Peake is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and the American College of Cardiology. He has been honored with the order of Military Medical Merit; the "A" Professional Designator; and the Medallion, Surgeon General of the United States.
