Demand Media’s Cracked and Saatchi Art Each Win a 2015 Webby Award

Santa Monica, CA.- Demand Media, Inc. (NYSE: DMD) today announced that both Cracked and Saatchi Art won 2015 Webby Awards, in their respective categories. Cracked secured a People’s Voice Award for the humor website category, while Saatchi Art was a Webby Winner for best Lifestyle Mobile Site & App.

“Having the online public select Cracked for the Webby’s People’s Voice Award is a testimony to its huge following and the enthusiasm that audiences have for Cracked,” said Sean Moriarty, CEO of Demand Media. “Saatchi Art’s award from the jury validates the transformative impact the app – in particular its ‘View in a Room’ feature – has had on the experience of buying and selling art online.”

Cracked received the People’s Voice Award in the humor category, which recognizes sites “dedicated to comedy or the art of laughter.” The award marks Cracked’s fourth consecutive Webby win; last year it was both a People’s Voice and Webby Winner in the Best Writing category for its After Hours series.

Saatchi Art won a Webby Award in the Lifestyle Mobile Sites & Apps (Handheld Devices) category, awarded to “Mobile sites or Apps … that feature commentary, commerce and advice on lifestyle and living topics … by providing information and resources that allow people to live on their own terms.” This is the first Webby Award nomination and win for Saatchi Art.
