Physician Order Entry on the Go

Nashville, TN - HealthMEDX®, a leading provider of EMR solutions for the long-term and post-acute care (LTPAC) market, today unveiled HealthMEDX® iCare Physician Order Entry (POE), the industry’s first mobile care management system designed by physicians for physicians.

The new iCare POE module simplifies care management across the full post-acute continuum. With iCare POE physicians can monitor their patients remotely and take prompt clinical action when there is a change in condition. iCare is designed to reduce readmissions by giving the physician the information they need to make the best care decisions from anywhere at any time. iCare POE includes a comprehensive collection of pre-built order sets and the ability to customize or create new sets based on the patient population, the facility, or the physician specialty.

The HealthMEDX Medical Advisory Board includes a prestigious group of physicians from around the country who represent health systems and long-term care providers. The group includes full-time SNFists, internists and specialists who predominately serve seniors. Charles Rogers, M.D, MBA, HealthMEDX Medical Director and chairman of the HealthMEDX Medical Advisory Board, serves as a primary stakeholder in the development process. Dr. Rogers said that the iCare’s platform helps facilitate tighter coordination between the hospital, emergency room and long-term care setting by enabling review of the full chart from any location, offering users an inclusive clinical snapshot of any patient – providing the big picture, in real time.

“Access to real-time patient data is vital to making informed care decisions, and iCare is designed to improve quality of care and provider efficiency,” said Dr. Rogers from the Leading Age Expo in Nashville, where the new POE offering was debuted. “In planning and design, the Medical Advisory Board focused on finding innovative ways to streamline workflows and promote best practices. Mobile POE is that next step in the evolution of electronic care management in the LTPAC setting.”

The addition of POE to iCare expands the product’s existing functionality, which includes full-featured, go-anywhere access to the entire patient chart, including the Continuity of Care Document (CCD) and the ability to sign orders, certifications and other documents. Designed for use on iPads and iPhones, iCare’s intuitive user interface replicates the look and feel of a paper chart and is available as downloadable app in the Apple Store or as a web-based interface via Windows Explorer.
