Jason Krantz, CEO of Definitive Healthcare, Wins 2020 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award, New England

Framingham, MA – Jason Krantz, founder and CEO of Definitive Healthcare, the leading provider of data, intelligence, and analytics on the healthcare provider market, received the 2020 New England Entrepreneur of the YearAward. The award, presented by Ernst & Young LLP, recognizes entrepreneurs who excel in areas such as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities, while also transforming our world and providing extraordinary support for their communities, employees and others during the COVID-19 crisis.

Jason Krantz was selected as a New England winner by an independent panel of judges, and the award was presented at a virtual ceremony on October 6.

“It’s truly an honor to win this prestigious award and join the rankings of so many outstanding business leaders that have earned recognition in this program over the past 34 years,” said Jason Krantz, founder and CEO of Definitive Healthcare. “I share this award with our many talented team members that I am fortunate to work with and want to thank our clients for their ongoing support over the past decade.”

Krantz has overseen Definitive Healthcare’s rapid growth in the healthcare data and analytics market since he founded the company nine years ago. Since 2011, Definitive Healthcare has grown over 50% per year, acquired four companies, and added more than 2,500 clients including 9 out of 10 of the top pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies, and 7 out of 10 of the top healthcare IT companies. The company has received investments from Spectrum Equity, Advent International, and 22C Capital and has 500 employees.

In addition to financial success, the company invests heavily in the community through its company-wide volunteer program, DefinitiveCares, which creates opportunities and structure for employees to give back. Over the last three years, company employees have volunteered nearly 6,500 hours and in 2020 alone have collectively contributed over $306,000 to support a host of youth and education programs, civil rights and racial justice causes, as well as a mix of charities targeting food and hunger, healthcare, shelter and homeless and LGBTQ efforts. The company has also donated its ICU hospital bed and ventilator data to government organizations and the general public to help predict where and when important resources should be allocated as COVID-19 case volume continued to grow.

“While it’s important to have a very successful growth business, for me, developing a culture where we can bring in creative, innovative, and energetic people that enjoy what they do every day is something I am truly proud of. DefinitiveCares has become part of the fabric of who we are as a company,” continued Krantz.

For the past four years, Definitive Healthcare has been the recipient of the Boston Business Journal’s Best Places to Work award, and in 2019 it was named the #1 Best Place to Work in Massachusetts, in the large company category.

Since 1986, EY has honored entrepreneurs whose ingenuity, spirit of innovation and discipline have driven their companies’ success, transformed their industries and made a positive impact on their communities. Now in its 34th year, the program has honored the inspirational leadership of such entrepreneurs as Howard Schultz of Starbucks, J.W. “Bill” Marriott, Jr. of Marriott International, Reid Hoffman and Jeff Weiner of LinkedIn, and Jodi Berg of Vitamix.

As a New England award winner, Krantz is now eligible for consideration for the Entrepreneur of the Year 2020 National Awards. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the Entrepreneur of the Year National Overall Award winner, will be announced at the virtual Entrepreneur of the Year National Awards gala in November.
