Ben Spero and Mike Farrell Named GrowthCap Top Software Investors of 2026

SAN FRANCISCO & BOSTON — Spectrum Equity Co-Managing Partners and Managing Directors Ben Spero and Mike Farrell have been named to the GrowthCap Top Software Investors of 2026 list.
The list is based on GrowthCap’s evaluation of the breadth and depth of each candidate’s software investing experience, along with their advancing AI capabilities and expertise, the types of investments they have made, and the role they have played in supporting their companies.
“As traditional software continues to face pressure and uncertainty caused by AI, the most astute software investors and management teams are successfully transitioning to an offensive posture, protecting and improving their competitive positioning,” said GrowthCap in a public statement. “The best software investors anticipate macro and micro events, see around corners, and work steadfastly to ensure the growth and future prosperity of the companies they invest in.”
Ben Spero was previously recognized on GrowthCap’s Top Software Investor list in 2023 and 2022; Mike Farrell was previously recognized in 2024.
“The best part of the job has always been working alongside founders and management teams," said Ben Spero. "I’m proud to partner with exceptional leaders, and to help them build companies that shape their industries.”
“This is the most exciting time I can remember to invest in founder-led, capital-efficient companies," added Mike Farrell. "We look forward to backing the next generation of entrepreneurs who are building with discipline and resourcefulness.”
